Abstract

The process of toddler growth and development is a crucial stage. This period greatly determines the success of the child's development in the future. Therefore, the involvement of mothers in posyandu activities is very important to monitor the growth and development of toddlers, reduce maternal and infant mortality, and expand the scope of basic health services. This study aims to describe various factors that influence the level of maternal compliance in bringing toddlers to posyandu in RW 2, Cawan Village, Jatinom, Klaten. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The population in this study were all mothers of toddlers registered at Posyandu Lestari 2, totaling 60 people, with a sample size of 40 people selected using the accidental sampling technique. The research instrument was adapted from previous studies. The results showed that the average age of respondents was 31.5 years, all of whom were female. The majority of respondents (72.5%) had a high school/vocational high school education, and the majority (85.0%) were housewives. As many as 37.5% had one to two children, and 65.0% lived close to the posyandu location. Most respondents (95.0%) had high knowledge about posyandu. All respondents (100.0%) stated their support for toddler posyandu activities and felt they received support from health workers. In addition, 92.5% of respondents also felt supported by their families, and 72.5% considered that the facilities available at Posyandu Lestari 2 were adequate.Keyword: Factors, Compliance, Visits, Posyandu, Toddlers

Review

This study addresses a crucial public health topic by examining factors influencing maternal compliance with Posyandu visits for toddler health and development in a specific Indonesian community. The authors clearly articulate their objective to describe these influencing factors, utilizing a quantitative descriptive approach. The abstract provides a useful overview of the demographic characteristics and perceptions of the sampled mothers, highlighting generally positive attributes such as high knowledge about Posyandu, strong perceived support from health workers and family, and satisfaction with facilities. This initial descriptive mapping serves as a foundational understanding of the environment surrounding Posyandu engagement in the study area. However, the methodological design and reported findings present certain limitations in fully identifying "determinants" of compliance. While the study describes various characteristics of the mothers, the descriptive approach does not establish a statistical association or causal link between these characteristics and the *level* of compliance. For example, reporting that "95.0% had high knowledge" describes the sample, but does not explain *how* high knowledge *determines* compliance, especially since the actual compliance rate among the sampled mothers is not explicitly stated in the abstract. The use of accidental sampling, while practical, inherently limits the generalizability of the findings, and the abstract's mention of an adapted instrument would benefit from further detail on its validation for the specific context. To truly identify determinants, an analytical approach correlating factors with compliance outcomes would be necessary. Despite these limitations, the study offers valuable descriptive insights into the demographic profile and perceived support systems of mothers involved in Posyandu activities. It implicitly suggests that a supportive environment and perceived adequacy of services are prevalent among the surveyed group. For future research, it would be highly beneficial to augment this descriptive work with inferential statistical analyses to establish concrete relationships between the identified factors and compliance rates. Furthermore, incorporating qualitative methods could provide deeper insights into the lived experiences and motivations behind maternal engagement. Practically, the current findings can inform community health initiatives by reinforcing existing strengths such as family and health worker support, while simultaneously paving the way for more targeted interventions once specific determinants of compliance or non-compliance are rigorously established.
