Pemanfaatan limbah kulit pisang sebagai bahan pembuatan pupuk organik cair (poc) di desa timpik kabupaten semarang. Pemanfaatan limbah kulit pisang dari UMKM di Desa Timpik, Semarang, diolah menjadi pupuk organik cair (POC) ramah lingkungan. Mengurangi sampah, meningkatkan nilai ekonomi, dan mendukung pertanian berkelanjutan.
This community service project aims to utilize banana peel waste produced by micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Timpik Village, Semarang Regency, as a raw material for making liquid organic fertilizer (POC). Previously unused banana peel waste is processed using a fermentation method with the addition of EM4 solution to accelerate the decomposition of organic matter. The program seeks to reduce the accumulation of unmanaged organic waste while increasing the value of this waste by transforming it into useful fertilizer products for agriculture. The results of the project show that the produced POC has good potential to be used as a natural fertilizer, offering a more environmentally friendly alternative to chemical fertilizers. Thus, this program provides dual benefits for the environment and the local economy.
This abstract outlines a highly relevant community service project focused on the valorization of banana peel waste into liquid organic fertilizer (POC) in Timpik Village. The initiative commendably addresses a significant environmental concern regarding organic waste accumulation from local MSMEs and proposes a sustainable solution by converting it into a useful agricultural product. The project's dual focus on environmental remediation through waste reduction and local economic empowerment by creating a value-added product demonstrates a practical and commendable approach to circular economy principles at a community level. The methodology described, employing fermentation with the addition of EM4 solution, is a well-established and accessible technique for accelerating the decomposition of organic matter. The stated aims to mitigate the accumulation of unmanaged organic waste and to increase its value by transforming it into a beneficial fertilizer are clearly articulated. The abstract highlights the production of POC that possesses "good potential" as a natural fertilizer, positioning it as an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional chemical fertilizers, thereby supporting sustainable agricultural practices within the region. While the abstract presents a compelling case for the project's practical success and benefits, a full journal publication would significantly benefit from the inclusion of quantitative data to substantiate its scientific claims. Specifically, detailed information on the precise fermentation parameters (e.g., duration, temperature, EM4 concentration), the initial characteristics of the banana peel waste, and crucially, the physiochemical properties of the resulting POC (e.g., pH, NPK content, organic matter content) would be essential. Moreover, providing concrete evidence of the "good potential" through small-scale plant trials or comparative analyses against commercial fertilizers, alongside metrics quantifying waste reduction and economic impact on local MSMEs, would further strengthen the scientific and practical merit of this valuable community initiative.
