This study investigates the crucial relationship between toxic workplace environments and job insecurity, a highly relevant topic given the increasing awareness of organizational culture's impact on employee well-being and retention. The abstract clearly outlines the premise that a supportive work environment is vital, and conversely, toxic conditions can significantly detriment individual security and overall organizational performance. The research posits a direct link between these two phenomena, aiming to empirically validate this connection within a specific organizational context. The methodology employed in this study is straightforward, utilizing a population study approach with saturation sampling (101 employees) from the Kantor Sekretariat DPRD Kota Semarang. This provides a focused examination within a governmental setting. The use of Spearman's correlation coefficient is appropriate for assessing the strength and direction of the relationship between the two variables. The finding of a significant positive correlation (r = 0.664; p < 0.05) strongly supports the hypothesis that a toxic workplace environment is indeed associated with increased job insecurity. This quantitative result is clearly presented and provides a solid empirical basis for the study's conclusion. While the findings are compelling and contribute to the understanding of workplace dynamics, certain aspects warrant further consideration. The study's confined scope to a single governmental office in Semarang, while allowing for saturation sampling, limits the generalizability of the findings across different industries, organizational structures, or cultural contexts. Furthermore, as a correlational study, it establishes an association but cannot infer causality. Future research, as also suggested by the authors, would benefit immensely from expanding the population and incorporating additional variables, perhaps exploring potential mediating factors (e.g., leadership styles, communication patterns) or moderating variables. Longitudinal studies could also provide insights into the temporal relationship and potential causal pathways between toxic environments and job insecurity, thereby enriching the current understanding.
