hubungan pengetahuan dan sikap remaja tentang pola makan seimbang dengan tindakan pencegahan diabetes mellitus tipe 2. Cari tahu hubungan pengetahuan & sikap remaja tentang pola makan seimbang dengan pencegahan Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2. Studi di SMAN 10 Yogyakarta temukan korelasi signifikan.
Diabetes mellitus is generally suffered by the elderly age group, but currently diabetes mellitus can also occur in adolescence. The main cause of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adolescents is an unbalanced lifestyle, including an unbalanced diet. The study aimed to find out the relationship between adolescents knowledge and attitudes about a balanced diet and preventive measures for type 2 diabetes mellitus at senior high school 10 Yogyakarta. The research design uses a quantitative method with proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The sample of this study was 93 respondents. The data were analyzed univariate and bivariate using Kendal's tau-b Test. The results were obtained between adolescents knowledge about diet with preventive measures for type 2 diabetes mellitus with a p-value of 0.010 (p?0.05) with a positive correlation of r=0.264 (0.2-0.399) and results between adolescents' attitudes about diet with preventive measures for type 2 diabetes mellitus with a p-value of 0.013 (p?0.05) with a positive correlation of r=0.300 (0.2-0.399). Interventions for preventing diabetes mellitus can be carried out, especially healthy living behavior. Future research can examine other factors, such as physical activity.
This study investigates the pertinent issue of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus prevention among adolescents, specifically examining the relationship between their knowledge and attitudes regarding a balanced diet and their preventative actions. The chosen topic is highly relevant, given the increasing incidence of T2DM in younger populations due to lifestyle factors. The abstract clearly outlines a quantitative approach with a well-defined objective and a specific target population (senior high school students in Yogyakarta). The findings, demonstrating statistically significant positive correlations between both knowledge and attitudes about diet with preventative measures (p-values of 0.010 and 0.013 respectively), offer valuable insights into potential areas for intervention and health promotion initiatives. From a methodological standpoint, the use of proportionate stratified random sampling is commendable, enhancing the representativeness of the sample within the chosen school. The sample size of 93 respondents appears adequate for a correlational study of this nature, and the application of Kendall's tau-b Test is appropriate for assessing associations between potentially ordinal variables. However, the abstract could benefit from a brief description of how "knowledge," "attitudes," and "preventative measures" were operationalized and measured. Understanding the specific instruments or questionnaires used would strengthen the interpretation of the correlation coefficients (r=0.264 and r=0.300), which, while statistically significant, suggest weak to moderate associations. Greater detail on the measurement methods would allow for a more thorough evaluation of the internal validity. Overall, this research contributes to the understanding of factors influencing T2DM prevention among adolescents and provides a clear foundation for practical application. The positive correlations, even if moderate, underscore the importance of educational programs that target both cognitive understanding and behavioral dispositions towards healthy eating. The recommendation for interventions focusing on healthy living behavior is a logical extension of the findings. The suggestion for future research to explore other factors like physical activity is well-placed, and expanding on this to include potential mediating or moderating variables, or even qualitative studies to deeply explore adolescents' perceptions and barriers, would further enrich the field. The paper presents a solid preliminary exploration into a critical public health challenge.
