This study addresses a highly relevant and timely topic concerning the mental well-being of Gen Z university students, specifically investigating its relationship with sleep quality. The clear objective to explore the connection between sleep quality and mental health among Gen Z students at Universitas Yatsi Madani is well-defined and executed. The methodology, employing a quantitative correlational cross-sectional design with a robust sample of 168 students, is appropriate for exploring such relationships. The use of validated instruments like the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the General Health Questionnaire-12 (GHQ-12) strengthens the reliability of the data collection. The findings, indicating a significant relationship where poor sleep quality correlates with an increased risk of mental health disturbances (p-value = 0.000), provide valuable empirical evidence to an area of growing concern. While the study presents compelling findings, some methodological nuances warrant discussion. The cross-sectional design, while efficient, inherently limits the ability to infer causality; it establishes a correlation but cannot definitively prove that poor sleep *causes* mental health issues or vice-versa, or if a third confounding variable is at play. Future research utilizing longitudinal designs could provide deeper insights into the directionality of this relationship. Furthermore, while the abstract notes the vulnerability of students due to academic demands and irregular lifestyles, a more detailed rationale for focusing specifically on "Gen Z" beyond their age cohort might enhance the specificity and theoretical underpinnings of the study's population choice. Quantifying the *proportion* of students with disturbed mental health and poor sleep quality in the abstract would also provide a clearer picture of the prevalence rates within the studied population. Despite these minor points, this study makes a significant contribution to understanding the critical link between sleep quality and mental health among Indonesian university students. The practical implications of the findings are particularly strong, leading to concrete recommendations for both students and university administration. Encouraging students to adopt healthy sleep patterns and advising campuses to implement educational programs on stress management and sleep hygiene are highly actionable suggestions that could genuinely improve student welfare. This research serves as a valuable call to action for higher education institutions to prioritize mental health support and promote sleep education, ultimately fostering a healthier academic environment for the next generation of professionals.
