Tingginya angka pembangunan gedung di sekitar kampus Universitas Mulawarman mengakibatkan turunnya keanekaragaman hayati karena berkurangnya lahan terbuka hijau. (RTH). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis serangga arboreal yang ditemukan di Kampus Universitas Mulawarman serta untuk mengetahui nilai indeks keanekaragaman, kemerataan, dan dominansi serangga arboreal di kawasan tersebut. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari hingga Maret 2023 di kawasan Kampus Universitas Mulawarman. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan metode transek dengan menelusuri area kampus, dan pengambilan sampel serangga dilakukan menggunakan insect net. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa serangga arboreal yang ditemukan berasal dari 6 ordo, yaitu Coleoptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, Odonata, dan Orthoptera, yang terdiri atas 13 famili dengan 30 spesies. Nilai indeks keanekaragaman (H’) pada pagi hari sebesar 2,072 dan sore hari sebesar 1,885, yang menunjukkan kategori sedang. Nilai indeks kemerataan (E) pada pagi hari sebesar 0,636, termasuk kategori tinggi, dan sore hari sebesar 0,593, termasuk kategori sedang. Sementara itu, nilai indeks dominansi (C) pada pagi hari sebesar 0,226 dan sore hari sebesar 0,392, yang menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada spesies yang mendominasi. Hasil indeks keanekaragaman menunjukkan bahwa perlu diperhatikan keberadaan RTH agar keanekaragaman serangga arboreal lebih tinggi dan jumlah individunya banyak.
This study investigates arboreal insect diversity within the Mulawarman University campus in Samarinda, addressing a highly relevant topic concerning the impact of urban development on biodiversity. The study's concluding emphasis on the necessity of maintaining and enhancing RTH (open green spaces) is a crucial and timely take-home message, directly linking the research findings to practical conservation efforts within urban environments. This recommendation directly supports sustainable campus planning and broader urban ecological management strategies. While providing valuable snapshot data, this research also implicitly opens avenues for future investigations, such as longitudinal studies to track changes over time or comparative studies across different levels of urbanization. Overall, this research makes a valuable contribution to urban ecology, highlighting the delicate balance required between developmental progress and biodiversity preservation.
