Abstract

Review

This study investigates the highly relevant public health issue of the relationship between complete immunization status and the incidence of bronchopneumonia in toddlers. Bronchopneumonia remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in young children, and understanding preventive factors like comprehensive vaccination is crucial for public health interventions. The stated objective to determine this relationship in a specific hospital setting is clear and aligns with the need for evidence-based strategies to reduce the burden of respiratory infections. The abstract sets the stage by highlighting the importance of immunization as a key preventive measure against such diseases. However, the abstract presents a fundamental and severe methodological inconsistency that undermines the credibility of the reported findings. Both the title and the abstract explicitly state that the study pertains to "Tahun 2025" (Year 2025), yet it presents "Hasil dan Kesimpulan" (Results and Conclusion) as if the study has already been conducted and analyzed with a P-value of 0.000. It is impossible for a completed study to report data from a future year. This suggests either a critical typographical error in the year, or that the study has not yet been conducted, rendering the presented results entirely speculative or erroneous. Furthermore, while the chosen cross-sectional, quantitative design with a chi-square test is appropriate for assessing associations, the use of purposive sampling can introduce selection bias, potentially limiting the generalizability of the findings, even if the temporal discrepancy were resolved. Assuming the "2025" reference is a critical error and the study has, in fact, been completed, the finding of a statistically significant relationship (P=0.000) between complete immunization status and bronchopneumonia incidence would be an important contribution. This result would reinforce the existing body of evidence supporting the protective role of vaccination and provide a strong impetus for promoting higher immunization coverage in the region. However, given the severe temporal inconsistency, the presented findings cannot be considered reliable. Before any further evaluation, the authors must urgently clarify and rectify the year of study completion. Without addressing this fundamental issue, the study's conclusions, despite their potential public health importance, cannot be accepted as valid.
