The study titled "Fenomena Korban Body Shaming Pada Mahasiswa FISIP Universitas Sriwijaya" addresses a highly relevant and pressing social issue concerning body shaming among university students. The abstract clearly outlines the study's objective: to delve into the underlying reasons why individuals become victims of body shaming and to identify the specific forms of such behavior experienced by students at FISIP Universitas Sriwijaya. This focus on the victim's perspective promises valuable insights into the psychological and emotional impact of body shaming, making the research timely and important for understanding mental well-being and social dynamics within academic environments. Methodologically, the research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. This methodology is well-suited for exploring complex social phenomena and gathering rich, nuanced data on individual experiences of body shaming. The study indicates the use of Hewstone's stereotype concept as its theoretical underpinning. The findings presented in the abstract reveal several factors contributing to victimization, including feelings of insecurity, anxiety, fear, resentment towards perpetrators, and the inability to accept the perpetrator's identity. Furthermore, the identified forms of body shaming experienced by victims encompass comments on imbalanced body posture, facial features, and general appearance perceived as unattractive. Overall, this study appears to offer a meaningful contribution to the understanding of body shaming, particularly from the vantage point of university students. Its strength lies in its qualitative depth, allowing for a detailed exploration of the reasons for victimization and the specific manifestations of body shaming. While the abstract mentions Hewstone's stereotype concept, a clearer articulation of how this framework is applied to interpret the findings would strengthen the theoretical contribution in the full paper. The identified reasons for victimization and types of shaming provide a concrete basis for developing targeted awareness campaigns or support programs. This research holds potential for informing interventions aimed at mitigating the negative effects of body shaming and fostering a more inclusive university environment.
