Bakaran Batik is a cultural heritage originating from Pati Regency. Burnt Batik has now been designated as one of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTb) on a national scale. However, as time goes by, its existence among the community is starting to decline in Bakaran Batik. The planning of the Bakaran Batik Expo Gallery in Pati Regency is aimed at preserving the art of batik itself and presenting Bakaran Batik as batik which has its own characteristics, both in terms of motifs, patterns and colors, to the public. wide. The site used in planning the Bakaran Batik Expo Gallery in Pati Regency is located on Jalan Raya Sunan-Ngerang, Bakaran Kulon Village, Juwana District, Pati Regency, 59185. The Expo Gallery Batik Bakaran building applies the Neo-Vernacular architectural concept which adopts the form of a Joglo Traditional House. The environmental aspects used in designing the Bakaran Batik Expo Gallery include rain water harvesting, and the processing of batik waste that does not pollute the surrounding environment. From several planning and design approaches, a planning and design concept was obtained which was used as the basis for planning the design of the Bakaran Batik Expo Gallery in Pati Regency. Some of these approaches include the functional approach, structural approach, performance aspects approach, and architectural approach.
This paper outlines a compelling project to establish an Expo Gallery for Bakaran Batik in Pati Regency, aiming to preserve and promote this nationally recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage. The central motivation, addressing the declining presence of Bakaran Batik within the community, is both timely and significant. The proposed approach, utilizing Neo-Vernacular architecture that draws inspiration from the Joglo Traditional House, suggests a thoughtful integration of local identity and cultural context into the physical structure. Overall, the abstract presents a well-intentioned and relevant initiative that has the potential to make a tangible contribution to cultural preservation. A key strength of the proposed work lies in its clear objective: not only to preserve Bakaran Batik but also to present its unique characteristics to a wider audience. The selection of a Neo-Vernacular architectural concept, specifically adopting the Joglo form, offers a promising avenue for creating a building that resonates with local aesthetics and heritage. Furthermore, the inclusion of environmental considerations, such as rainwater harvesting and batik waste processing, demonstrates a responsible and holistic approach to the project's sustainability, addressing potential ecological impacts associated with batik production. The mention of various planning and design approaches (functional, structural, performance, and architectural) suggests a systematic and comprehensive design methodology will be employed. While the abstract provides a strong foundation, the full paper would benefit from greater elaboration on several points. For instance, it would be valuable to understand how the Neo-Vernacular approach will specifically interpret and manifest the unique motifs, patterns, and colors of Bakaran Batik within the gallery's design, beyond simply adopting a traditional house form. Additionally, while the aim is to present Bakaran Batik to the wider public, the abstract could elaborate on the specific exhibition strategies, interactive elements, or educational programs within the gallery that are planned to directly counter the "decline in existence" and foster community engagement. Detailing the methods for processing batik waste to avoid pollution would also enhance the environmental claims. The impact of the "planning and design concepts obtained" should be clearly linked back to the initial problem statement and how they directly contribute to the project's success.
