Abstract

This article starts from Coseriu’s treatment of linguistic energeia and moves towards an analysis of the potential role of this concept in articulating the science of language with a science dealing with other aspects of the human species (for instance: activity, culture, reflective thinking). On the basis of a brief reminder of the main features of the word and of the concept of energeia in Aristotle’s metaphysics, the text sketches one possible direction of further developing the concept of linguistic energeia within the epistemological framework of social interactionism, especially in the version worked out by V. N. Volochinov.
