This study addresses a highly pertinent issue, the challenge of patient compliance in preventing tuberculosis transmission, a critical public health concern, especially in inpatient settings. The authors aim to evaluate the effectiveness of peer support as an intervention, a psychosocial approach increasingly recognized for its potential in chronic disease management. The abstract clearly articulates the study's objective and unequivocally concludes that peer support intervention significantly enhances compliance, offering a valuable contribution to strategies for TB control in clinical practice. The findings suggest a practical and potentially cost-effective method to improve patient outcomes and reduce community transmission. From a methodological standpoint, the use of an experimental design is appropriate for assessing the effectiveness of an intervention. The abstract reports a population of 36 inpatient pulmonary TB patients, with a sample of 36 respondents divided into intervention and control groups, each comprising 16 individuals. A notable inconsistency here is that 16 respondents per group totals 32, leaving 4 patients from the stated population of 36 unaccounted for in the sample division, which should ideally be clarified in the full manuscript. The application of a validated and reliable questionnaire for data collection, along with the Mann Whitney test for bivariat analysis, appears suitable given the nature of the data and sample size. The reported results, showing a substantial increase in compliance scores in the intervention group (15 points) compared to the control group (3.9 points) with a highly significant p-value of 0.000, provide strong statistical evidence for the intervention's efficacy. The study effectively concludes that peer support intervention is effective in increasing compliance with tuberculosis transmission prevention. This finding has significant implications for healthcare providers at Aisyiyah Kudus Hospital and potentially other similar settings, advocating for the integration of peer support programs into routine patient care for TB. To further strengthen this research, future studies could delve into the specific characteristics of the peer support intervention (e.g., frequency, content, duration, and training of peer supporters), explore long-term adherence post-discharge, and incorporate qualitative data to understand the mechanisms through which peer support influences patient behavior. Addressing the minor discrepancy in sample reporting would also enhance the study's precision and reproducibility.
