Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas Aplikasi Info BMKG dalam memberikan informasi mengenai cuaca dan bencana alam khususnya gempa bumi kepada masyarakat Kota Tangerang Selatan. Indikasi masalah yang temukan pada aplikasi ini adalah adanya keterlambatan notifikasi mengenai informasi gempa bumi, sehingga masyarakat Kota Tangerang Selatan terlambat mengetahui adanya gempa bumi dan besarannya. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah menggunakan wawancara kepada pengguna aplikasi, observasi (pengamatan) pada aplikasi Info BMKG, dan studi pustaka. Dalam penelitian ini, informan adalah pengguna aplikasi Info BMKG yang tinggal di Kota Tangerang Selatan dan dari berbagai usia. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa aplikasi Info BMKG terbilang cukup efektif dalam menyediakan informasi cuaca. Akan tetapi notifikasi aplikasi mengenai gempa bumi masih belum berjalan dengan optimal.
This study critically examines the effectiveness of the Info BMKG application in disseminating crucial weather and disaster information, specifically earthquakes, to the community in Tangerang Selatan. The research is motivated by a pertinent problem: observed delays in earthquake notifications, which could severely impact timely public awareness and safety. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the authors utilized interviews with Info BMKG users in the specified region, direct observation of the application, and a literature review to gather data. This methodology is appropriate for exploring user perceptions and the operational aspects of a public information system. The findings indicate a mixed performance from the application. On one hand, the Info BMKG application is deemed "quite effective" in providing weather-related information, suggesting a reasonable level of functionality and user satisfaction in this domain. However, a significant concern is raised regarding the sub-optimal performance of earthquake notifications, which remain untimely. This core finding underscores a critical gap in the application's functionality, especially given the life-saving potential of immediate disaster alerts, particularly for seismic events in a disaster-prone region like Indonesia. While the study effectively highlights an important issue regarding disaster preparedness technology, further research could strengthen its impact. Future work might benefit from quantifying the "effectiveness" for weather information and the extent of "sub-optimality" for earthquake alerts, perhaps through user satisfaction metrics or objective timing comparisons. Additionally, exploring the technical root causes behind the notification delays, rather than just observing them, could provide actionable insights for developers. Nevertheless, this paper serves as a valuable preliminary assessment, offering essential feedback to BMKG and disaster management agencies to enhance the application's reliability and contribute more robustly to public safety.
