This report details a highly relevant and commendable community engagement initiative focused on two critical aspects of patient safety: hand hygiene and fall prevention. By targeting patient families in the inpatient setting, the activity correctly identifies and empowers a key stakeholder group crucial for maintaining patient safety and preventing hospital-acquired complications. The abstract clearly articulates the project's objective to enhance family understanding, and the chosen methods of lectures and direct demonstrations are appropriate for conveying essential health information and practical skills effectively within a hospital environment. The reported enthusiastic participation and increased understanding among the 35 family members are immediate positive indicators of the intervention's initial success. The methodology described, involving lectures and direct demonstrations, represents a practical and accessible approach to health education in a clinical setting. The findings, indicating an improved understanding of WHO's six steps for handwashing and fall risk factors, are encouraging and suggest the educational content was well-received and absorbed. While the abstract, consistent with a community service report, focuses on immediate educational outcomes rather than long-term behavioral changes or quantifiable reductions in incidents, the active engagement and high enthusiasm reported among participants underscore the intervention's potential to foster a safety-conscious environment. It successfully bridges a critical knowledge gap identified as vital for quality healthcare. In conclusion, this educational activity makes a valuable contribution to promoting patient safety culture by equipping family members with essential knowledge and skills. The initiative effectively addresses identified quality indicators within hospital services and demonstrates a practical approach to community health education. For future endeavors or potential research, exploring the long-term impact on family practices and patient outcomes would be a logical next step. Nevertheless, the immediate success in improving understanding and engagement among family members highlights its significance and potential for replication in other inpatient settings seeking to enhance patient safety through empowered family involvement.
