Introduction

Dispositivo midiático. Analisa o discurso midiático e as relações de poder na cobertura de casos de abuso sexual por sacerdotes da Igreja Católica, focando nas reportagens da revista Veja sob a ótica foucaultiana.

Abstract

Os casos mais emblemáticos de abuso sexual envolvendo sacerdotes tiveram grande repercussão em importantes veículos de comunicação mundiais, como o jornal americano Boston Sunday Globe. A partir desse evento, houve uma explosão discursiva sobre a temática, com diversos veículos de comunicação de renome global divulgando casos semelhantes. No Brasil, o cenário não foi diferente. Em julho de 2019, a revista Veja publicou três reportagens que abordaram ocorrências semelhantes no estado de São Paulo. Considerando o estatuto discursivo desse acontecimento social e jornalístico, empenhamo-nos em realizar uma descrição enunciativa que toma como ponto de partida as relações de poder em atuação no discurso midiático para interrogar a constituição das práticas discursivas noticiosas no movimento de produção do abuso sexual como um referencial discursivo. Mais especificamente, respaldados teórica e metodologicamente pelos estudos discursivos foucaultianos, no artigo, problematizamos o discurso jornalístico, em especial o da Veja, e sua atuação como um dispositivo de poder, por noticiar práticas de abuso sexual cometidas no interior de uma instituição religiosa secular, como é a Igreja Católica. O corpus de analise se constitui de três reportagens, todas previamente selecionadas pela relevância do veículo na cobertura de casos de abuso sexual cometidos por sacerdotes. Além disso, a referida revista possui um papel na formação de opinião pública e na mediação entre o público e o privado, especialmente em relação a instituições de grande poder, como a Igreja Católica, fato esse que faz de Veja um suporte estratégico para compreender as relações de poder e verdade no discurso midiático.

The identified analytical corpus is appropriate and well-defined for the proposed investigation.
