The Paradiso Farmer Group initiated the development of kopyor coconut as a local commodity, which serves as one of the leading agricultural products in Pati Regency. This research employs a field study approach with data collection methods including observation, interviews, and documentation. findings reveal that the empowerment process of the Paradiso Farmer Group consists of four main stages: planning, implementation, institutionalization, and monitoring-evaluation. The planning stage involves recognizing the potential of kopyor coconut, identifying market opportunities, and formulating the group’s vision, mission, and objectives. Finally, the monitoring and evaluation stage consists of conducting regular monthly meetings to gather feedback, address challenges, and accommodate suggestions for improvement. The improvement in economic empowerment is evident through indicators of enhanced economic welfare, reflected in the fulfillment of basic needs such as adequate clothing, food, housing, education, and healthcare.
This paper presents a highly relevant and timely case study on community economic empowerment, focusing on the Paradiso Farmer Group's successful development of kopyor coconut as a leading local commodity in Pati Regency. The research employs a clear qualitative field study methodology, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation, which is well-suited for an in-depth exploration of an empowerment process. The study's primary contribution lies in outlining a structured, four-stage framework for community empowerment—planning, implementation, institutionalization, and monitoring-evaluation—and demonstrating tangible improvements in the economic welfare of the farmer group members. The abstract effectively outlines the key findings, detailing the planning stage's focus on potential recognition and market opportunities, and the monitoring and evaluation stage's emphasis on regular feedback and challenge resolution. While these stages are clearly articulated, the abstract provides less specific detail regarding the activities or strategies employed during the 'implementation' and 'institutionalization' phases. Further insights into these critical stages, even a brief mention, would enrich the understanding of the empowerment trajectory. Nevertheless, the reported outcome of enhanced economic welfare, evidenced by improved fulfillment of basic needs such as adequate clothing, food, housing, education, and healthcare, provides compelling evidence of the group's positive impact. To further strengthen the findings, future iterations of the work could elaborate on the specific metrics or qualitative indicators used to assess the "enhanced economic welfare" beyond simply listing the categories of basic needs. Given its nature as a case study, the findings offer deep contextual understanding, though generalizability would naturally be limited. This paper offers valuable insights into grassroots economic development initiatives and provides a practical model for local commodity development. It makes a significant contribution to the literature on rural empowerment and is highly suitable for publication.
