Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis serta makna dari bullying verbal yang ada dalam komentar di platform media sosial Instagram. Metode penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan analisis data menggunakan metode pembaca markah terhadap 50 komentar dari akun @cnnindonesia yang dikumpulkan melalui teknik simak bebas libat cakap (SLBC), catat dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian mengidentifikasi empat kategori bullying verbal: (1) sarkasme berupa ejekan kasar, seperti komentar “kyk pengemis aja”, (2) panggilan menghina yang merendahkan, seperti komentar “si linglung”, (3) sindiran bernada negatif, seperti komentar “tambah rajin buang sampah sembarangannya ya”, dan (4) komentar rasis berbasis stereotip, seperti komentar “last scene a white woman with black boi, white woman always make me disappoint”. Analisis semantik menunjukkan makna leksikal dan kontekstual yang mencerminkan emosi, negatif, kritik sosial, serta bias rasial. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa bullying verbal di Instagram dapat menciptakan lingkungan digital yang tidak aman, serta berpotensi memberikan dampak yang negatif terhadap pola komunikasi masyarakat karena bertentangan dengan fungsi bahasa yang seharusnya menjadi alat komunikasi dan interaksi antar bangsa.  Kata Kunci: Bullying Verbal, Instagram, Komentar, Makna Semantik

Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research effectively utilized data from 50 comments on a prominent news account, @cnnindonesia, collected through a non-participatory observation technique. The findings of this research are particularly insightful, categorizing verbal bullying into four distinct types: sarcastic mockery, derogatory labels, negative insinuations, and stereotype-based racist comments. The abstract provides compelling examples for each category, such as "kyk pengemis aja" (like a beggar) for sarcasm and "last scene a white woman with black boi, white woman always make me disappoint" for racial comments, which clearly illustrate the varied forms verbal aggression takes. The subsequent semantic analysis, discerning both lexical and contextual meanings, successfully uncovers the underlying emotions, negativity, social critique, and racial biases embedded within these comments. This granular examination of meaning significantly enriches our understanding of the motivations and impact behind such online behaviors. Overall, the study makes a valuable contribution to the understanding of cyberbullying, specifically focusing on its verbal manifestations on Instagram. Its conclusion, highlighting how verbal bullying contributes to an unsafe digital environment and negatively impacts communication patterns, underscores the urgent need for addressing this issue. The paper effectively argues that such behaviors undermine the fundamental function of language as a tool for positive interaction and interaction. While the focus on a single news account provides specific context, future research could potentially expand the sample to include other types of Instagram accounts or a larger dataset to explore broader trends or platform-specific nuances. Nonetheless, this paper offers a robust foundation for further discussion and intervention strategies against online verbal harassment.
