Abstract

Review

The paper "ANARQUISMO DA SUBJETIVIDADE" DE SAUL NEWMAN offers a timely and theoretically rich analysis of the concept of subjectivity within Saul Newman's influential post-anarchist framework. Engaging with the individual, collective, and ontological dimensions of subjectivity, the study meticulously traces Newman's critique of the essentialist and Enlightenment-influenced humanism characteristic of classical anarchism. By introducing an "insurrectionary subjectivity" that facilitates individual self-reinvention and a "radical collective subjectivity" geared towards social transformation, the work highlights a significant departure from traditional anarchist thought, culminating in an "ontological anarchy" defined by the absence of pre-determined principles and purposes. A key strength of this theoretical endeavor lies in its comprehensive unpacking of Newman's nuanced approach to identity and agency. The paper adeptly demonstrates how Newman's post-anarchism seeks to dismantle fixed categories, allowing for a dynamic "devir criativo" at the individual level and a pluralistic, horizontal approach to collective action. The exploration of "ontological anarchy" as the logical conclusion of these processes provides a profound insight into the radical freedom and self-determination Newman envisions. This study, therefore, makes a valuable contribution to the ongoing scholarly discourse on post-anarchism by clarifying and systematizing a complex yet crucial aspect of contemporary political philosophy. However, the abstract also thoughtfully anticipates and embraces internal tensions within Newman's theoretical edifice, signaling a robust and critical engagement with the subject matter. The paper intends to scrutinize the post-anarchist subjectivity for its potential leanings towards subjectivism, the moral impasses inherent in a self-disciplined subjectivity, and, most notably, a seemingly contradictory inclination towards an essentialist ontology despite its foundational critique of such. These identified areas for critical assessment suggest a sophisticated understanding of the theoretical challenges. A full exposition of these points will be crucial, particularly in elucidating how Newman navigates the fine line between rejecting essentialism and potentially establishing new foundational understandings of being, and the practical and ethical implications of these inherent contradictions.
