This paper, "Analisis Makna Simbolik pada Poster 'Toxic Masculinity is The Silent Killer of Men' Menggunakan Teori Semiotika Charles S. Pierce," presents a timely and highly relevant investigation into a critical social phenomenon through the lens of visual communication. The study effectively tackles the symbolic meanings embedded within a poster addressing toxic masculinity, a concept often misconstrued yet deeply impactful on men and gender dynamics. By employing Charles S. Peirce's semiotic theory, the research promises a robust analytical framework to deconstruct the visual narrative, offering valuable insights into how such complex ideas are communicated and perceived. The choice of a qualitative descriptive method aligns well with the interpretive nature of semiotic analysis, setting a strong foundation for the study's objectives. The core strength of this research lies in its methodical application of Peirce's triadic model – icon, interpretant, and object – to meticulously examine the visual symbols within the chosen poster. The abstract highlights that this approach enables a detailed unpacking of how various elements within the poster collectively represent and reinforce the phenomenon of toxic masculinity. This analytical depth is crucial for understanding the nuances of visual communication in addressing social issues. Furthermore, the study explicitly links its findings to broader societal goals, emphasizing the importance of public awareness regarding toxic masculinity and advocating for gender equality. This practical application underscores the research's potential to transcend mere academic discussion and contribute to social betterment. Overall, this study makes a significant contribution to both semiotic analysis and the understanding of social issues through visual art. By demonstrating how semiotics can effectively decode potent social messages in posters, it not only enriches the field of visual communication but also provides a powerful tool for social commentary and advocacy. The paper effectively highlights the critical role of visual media in shaping societal discourse around challenging topics like toxic masculinity, offering a fresh perspective on how visual symbols contribute to public understanding and promote social change. This makes it a valuable addition to the literature for scholars in semiotics, communication studies, and gender studies.
