Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis potensi unggulan daerah di Kabupaten Gorontalo Utara dan mengetahui kesesuaian bidang keahlian SMK dengan potensi sektor unggulan daerah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Gorontalo, pada enam SMK yang tersebar di 5 Kecamatan. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode kombinasi model sequential explanatory dengan analisis data location qoutient (LQ) dan analisis data kualitatif. Hasil analisis data LQ diperoleh bahwa lapangan usaha Pertambangan dan Penggalian dengan nilai 1,59. Kedua adalah pertanian, kehutanan dan perikanan dengan nilai 1,37. Ketiga adalah administrasi pemerintahan pertahanan dan jaminan sosial wajib dengan nilai 1,15 nilai LQ. Data hasil wawancara diperoleh bahwa pertanian, perikanan, peternakan, Pertambangan dan Pariwisata merupakan sektor unggulan daerah. Kompetensi keahlian yang sesuai dengan sektor unggulan daerah terdapat 6 kompetensi keahlian yaitu kompetensi keahlian. Kompetensi keahlian tersebut antara lain, Agribisnis Tanaman Pangan dan Holtikultura, Agribisnis Pengolahan Hasil Pertanian, Agribisnis Tanaman Perkebunan, Nautika Kapal Niaga, Agribisni Perikanan Air Payau dan Laut, Agribisnis Pengolahan Hasil Perikanan.

While the study provides a robust initial assessment, future iterations or discussions could benefit from a deeper exploration of certain aspects. For instance, the practical implications of "Public Administration, Defense, and Compulsory Social Security" as an *unggulan* sector for specific vocational competencies warrant further elucidation, particularly in terms of how vocational schools can prepare students for these roles. Additionally, a discussion on the challenges and mechanisms for implementing curriculum changes based on these findings, or an analysis of the scale and growth potential of each identified sector, would enhance the paper's policy relevance. Nevertheless, this research serves as an important foundational step, offering actionable data for policymakers and educational institutions in Gorontalo Utara to better align vocational training with regional economic demands, thereby contributing significantly to local human capital development.
