Abstract

Review

This paper addresses a highly pertinent and globally significant issue: the threat of green finance crises, particularly in the context of Indonesia and its vulnerability to climate change risks. The abstract clearly states the research's objective to simultaneously assess the resilience of both financial and environmental ecosystems, influenced by climate change, specifically through the performance of the banking sector. Given Indonesia's unique economic and environmental landscape, a study of this nature holds substantial relevance for policymakers, financial institutions, and environmental stakeholders seeking to ensure sustainable economic growth amidst escalating climate challenges. Methodologically, the study utilizes annual report data from Bank Indonesia spanning 2015-2025, processed with EViews and employing an "Ed Waves Index" model. The stated timeline, encompassing future data (2023-2025), is a critical point that requires immediate clarification within the full manuscript, as it suggests the use of projected or simulated data rather than solely historical records, which fundamentally impacts the interpretation of empirical findings. The core findings indicate that both internal elements (deposits and credits) and external elements (inflation and exchange rates) positively contribute to the green finance crisis, thereby slowing economic growth. Interestingly, the interest rate is found to have no significant impact, suggesting a degree of underlying financial stability within the Indonesian system. While the abstract mentions examining both financial and environmental ecosystem resilience, the summarized findings predominantly focus on financial indicators and their influence on the "green finance crisis," which implies that the integration and measurement of environmental ecosystem resilience might need more explicit elaboration in the paper's results section. Despite the methodological query regarding the data timeline, the research offers valuable insights for Bank Indonesia and the broader banking sector. The identification of specific financial and macroeconomic variables exacerbating green finance crises provides a crucial foundation for developing targeted policies and regulatory frameworks to mitigate these risks. The finding that interest rates do not disturb financial stability, despite the challenges posed by other factors, is a significant insight that could inform strategies for maintaining robust financial systems. The paper, therefore, serves as a vital benchmark for controlling financial behaviors that could threaten economic growth through green finance crises, highlighting the importance of continuous monitoring and adaptive policy responses within Indonesia's demonstrably stable financial system.
