This paper addresses a critical and pervasive issue of household waste management in urbanizing regions, specifically focusing on Bencah Lesung Village where waste burning is a common practice. The initiative to transform household waste into ecobricks and compost offers a timely and environmentally sound alternative to traditional disposal methods. The authors clearly articulate the problem, the negative impacts of current practices, and propose a practical, community-based solution. The stated objective of improving local residents' knowledge and skills in sustainable waste management is commendable and directly tackles a key barrier to effective waste reduction at the household level. The methodology employed, involving education, demonstrations, and direct assistance, is well-suited for a community engagement program aimed at behavioral change and skill development. The use of pre-test and post-test evaluations on 15 respondents provides a quantitative measure of the program's immediate impact on knowledge acquisition. The significant increase in average scores from 7.27 to 9.20, alongside a 33.3% improvement in knowledge among the sampled residents, strongly supports the program's effectiveness in achieving its educational objectives. While the sample size of 15 respondents is relatively small, it provides compelling evidence for the immediate efficacy within the target group. In conclusion, this intervention demonstrates a successful model for empowering communities to adopt sustainable waste management practices. The program's effectiveness in enhancing both knowledge and practical skills for producing compost and ecobricks is well-substantiated by the reported data. This represents a tangible step towards fostering a cleaner and healthier environment in RW 6 and potentially beyond. Future research could explore the long-term sustainability of these practices, the scaling potential to other communities, and the broader environmental and socio-economic impacts of such initiatives, further solidifying the invaluable contribution of this type of community-led transformation.
