Abstract

Abstract. The high number of adolescent marriages at an early age does not matter to the community in Seulimum sub-district, although the government has limited the minimum age of women and men to marry in Indonesia, the age limit is not a primary consideration of adolescents located in Seulimum Sub- Aceh Besar District. The purpose of this study is to detect the main factors that cause high rates of early marriage in adolescents in the District of Seulimum Aceh Besar District. The research used descriptive analysis method percentage for data processing. The population in this study amounted to 205 souls and the sample of 40 people. Data collection techniques are questionnaires that are closed and observation. Based on data processing obtained, less agree (20.5%), disagree (10.5%), so it can be concluded that most (69%) of seulimum subdistrict support the decision to marry at a young age, Islamic religious culture in society. Also, as a result of non-formal education of adolescent girls in traditional pesantren in the community, coupled with adolescent girls is not required to continue education to a higher level. In the end, make other teenage girls to follow peers who have been married at an early age in the surrounding community.

Review

This study tackles the highly relevant and persistent issue of early adolescent marriage in the Seulimum sub-district of Aceh Besar, a region where such practices often persist despite national legal frameworks. The abstract effectively highlights the core problem: a significant segment of the community not only tolerates but actively supports early marriage, viewing legal age limits as secondary. The research aims to identify the principal factors contributing to these high rates, making it a valuable contribution to understanding a complex socio-cultural phenomenon with significant implications for adolescent well-being and development, particularly in conservative cultural contexts. The specific focus on Aceh, a region with unique cultural and religious characteristics, adds an important dimension to the existing literature on early marriage. However, the methodological description in the abstract presents several areas requiring clarification and more robust detail. While a "descriptive analysis method percentage" is mentioned, the specifics of its application and the analytical framework remain vague. The sample size of 40 individuals drawn from a population of 205 is quite small, raising questions about its representativeness and the generalizability of the findings, especially for drawing conclusions about an entire sub-district. Crucially, the presentation of results—"less agree (20.5%), disagree (10.5%), so it can be concluded that most (69%) of seulimum subdistrict support the decision to marry at a young age"—lacks context. It is unclear what specific statement or question elicited these percentages, making it difficult to fully interpret the "support." Furthermore, the subsequent attribution of causality to "Islamic religious culture," "non-formal education," and peer influence feels like an interpretive leap rather than a direct, demonstrated finding from the presented quantitative data. The abstract does not sufficiently explain how these causal factors were measured or explicitly linked to the survey responses. Despite these methodological and reporting ambiguities, the study identifies several plausible and important drivers of early marriage, including community cultural norms, the influence of traditional religious education, a perceived lack of necessity for higher education among adolescent girls, and significant peer pressure. These insights are crucial for developing targeted interventions. For the full paper to be considered for publication, a much clearer exposition of the research design, including sampling strategy, specific questionnaire items, and the analytical steps connecting quantitative data to the qualitative interpretations of cultural and educational influences, would be essential. Moreover, explicitly detailing the "tradition" (Tradisi) mentioned in the title, and how it manifests and perpetuates early marriage, would strengthen the paper's contribution to understanding this deeply embedded social issue.
