Abstract

The Grand Design for Population Development is a guideline used to create policies and strategies used for national, provincial and district population development. In the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 153 of 2014 concerning the Grand Design of Population Development, GDPK consists of 5 pillars which will become a reference document for the implementation of reliable population development. The Grand Design for Population Development consists of 5 pillars of development in the population sector, including Population Quantity Management, Population Quality Improvement, Population Distribution and Mobility Management, Quality Family Development, Population Data and Information Arrangement and Population Administration. It is hoped that the Grand Design Document for Population Development, which consists of 5 pillars, can serve as a guide for the central government and regional governments to overcome population problems and be able to formulate a good and sustainable population policy direction.

Review

This abstract introduces the Grand Design for Population Development (GDPK) in Indonesia, framed around five core pillars, as a crucial guiding document for national and regional population policies. The topic is undeniably important, given the complex demographic challenges faced by many developing nations. The GDPK framework, with its structured approach to population quantity, quality, distribution, family development, and data management, appears to offer a comprehensive strategic foundation. The abstract effectively conveys the *intent* of the GDPK as a reference for reliable and sustainable population development. However, the abstract's primary limitation is its highly descriptive nature, focusing almost entirely on outlining *what the GDPK is* rather than *what this specific paper contributes* regarding its "role" in population phenomena. The title promises an exploration of the GDPK's role, yet the abstract provides no indication of the methodology employed, the specific data analyzed, or any findings derived from an investigation into this role. Phrases like "It is hoped that..." underscore the aspirational goals of the GDPK itself, rather than presenting a research inquiry into its actual impact or implementation challenges. Consequently, it remains unclear whether the paper is a theoretical exposition, a policy review, an empirical study, or an assessment of the framework's effectiveness. To strengthen its contribution, the paper would need to clearly articulate how it analyzes the GDPK's "role." This could involve examining specific policy implementations linked to the pillars, assessing their impact through relevant indicators, discussing challenges in coordination between central and regional governments, or presenting case studies of successful or unsuccessful application. Without a defined analytical approach or preliminary findings, the abstract currently reads more like a policy brief introducing the GDPK than a research paper investigating its function. Future iterations of this work should aim to move beyond mere description to provide critical analysis and empirical evidence concerning the GDPK's practical application and effectiveness in addressing Indonesia's population dynamics.
