The relationship between self control and bullying behavior in adolescents. Kaji hubungan kontrol diri dan perilaku bullying pada remaja di SMP Negeri 2 Banyuputih. Studi kuantitatif ini menemukan hubungan signifikan antara kontrol diri dan bullying.
This study aims to examine the relationship between self control and bullying behavior at SMP Negeri 2 Banyuputih. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative method. The subjects in this study were 79 students who were selected by purposive sampling technique. The results of this study indicate a relationship between Self Control and Bullying Behavior. From the results of the hypothesis test, it can be seen that the calculated F value is 467,256 with a significance level of 0.00 < 0.05, it means that the regression model based on the research is significant. This proves that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected, because there is a relationship between the variable X (Self Control) and bullying behavior.
The study addresses a highly pertinent and critical topic: the relationship between self-control and bullying behavior among adolescents. Given the pervasive nature of bullying in schools and its detrimental effects on mental health and academic performance, research investigating its underlying psychological mechanisms, such as self-control, is inherently valuable. The abstract clearly outlines the study's aim to examine this relationship within a specific school setting, employing a descriptive quantitative approach. The primary finding, indicating a significant relationship between self-control and bullying behavior, offers an initial empirical confirmation that aligns with existing theoretical frameworks linking self-regulation to various forms of social conduct. However, the abstract presents several areas that would benefit from further clarification and detail in the full manuscript. While a "descriptive quantitative method" is mentioned, the specific tools and instruments used to measure self-control and bullying behavior are not identified, which is crucial for assessing the validity and reliability of the data. The sample size of 79 students, selected via purposive sampling, might raise questions regarding the generalizability of the findings beyond the specific institution, and the rationale for this selection method and sample size should be thoroughly explained. Furthermore, reporting solely an F-value from a regression model (F=467.256, p < 0.05) to demonstrate a "relationship" confirms the overall model's significance but offers limited insight into the nature, strength, or direction of the bivariate relationship between self-control and bullying. A correlation coefficient (e.g., Pearson's r) or the specific regression coefficient for the predictor variable would provide a more precise understanding of this association. Despite these methodological reporting concerns, the study provides an initial contribution by statistically linking self-control to bullying behavior in this specific adolescent population. To enhance the study's impact and interpretability, the complete paper should elaborate on the methodology, detailing the measures used and the rationale for sampling. It should also present a more comprehensive analysis of the relationship's characteristics, including its direction and magnitude. Future research could build upon this foundation by exploring mediating or moderating factors that influence this relationship, employing longitudinal designs to infer causality, or examining these dynamics across diverse cultural contexts and age groups. Overall, while the abstract highlights an important area of research, a more rigorous and detailed presentation in the full paper is essential to maximize its scientific contribution.
