Abstract

Tafsir klasik sering dianggap tidak relevan dengan zaman, sedangkan Al-Qur'an sebagai objek interpretasi, memiliki sifat shalih li kulli zaman wa makan. Berangkat dari kebutuhan akan pembaharuan interpretasi yang dapat menjawab perkembangan permasalahan kontemporer, Tafsir Al-Manar muncul sebagai penafsiran progresif yang menjawab permasalahan relevansi Al-Qur'an dengan zaman. Penelitian ini berfokus pada kajian Tafsir Al-Manar secara mendalam dari segi sejarah dan metodologi interpretasi. Metode historis-analitik dipilih untuk melakukan analisis mendalam terhadap sejarah Tafsir Al-Manar, sedangkan metode penelitian perpustakaan dipilih karena penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui aspek progresif Tafsir Al-Manar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kombinasi metode historis-analitik dan penelitian perpustakaan pada jenis penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian ini menghasilkan temuan terbarukan bahwa Tafsir Al-Manar merupakan tafsir progresif yang dapat menjawab permasalahan masyarakat modern. Penelitian ini berkontribusi untuk menjawab permasalahan tafsir klasik yang dianggap tidak relevan dalam menjawab zaman dan menjelaskan makna yang terkandung dalam Al-Qur'an sebagai kitab suci yang relevan di setiap zaman.
