This paper tackles a highly relevant subject within Islamic finance: the risk management strategies applied to Murabahah financing at Bank Sumut Syariah Rantau Prapat. The explicit aim to delineate implementation steps for risk management and identify solutions for problematic financing addresses a critical operational aspect for Islamic financial institutions. Given the inherent complexities of Sharia-compliant contracts and the imperative for sound financial practices, such a study promises to offer practical insights into how these institutions safeguard their assets and manage credit exposures effectively. Employing a qualitative research methodology, the study draws its data from a robust set of sources, including internal bank documents, direct interviews with pertinent Account Officers, and supporting literature. This approach is well-suited to generating in-depth, context-specific understanding of the bank's practices. The research concludes that the implementation of risk management for Murabahah financing at Bank Sumut Syariah Rantau Prapat is "well carried out." Furthermore, it identifies a comprehensive array of alternative solutions for problematic financing, encompassing intensive billing, rescheduling, reconditioning, restructuring, and collateral liquidation. These findings provide a clear overview of the practical mechanisms employed by the bank to mitigate financial risks. While the abstract indicates successful risk management, the full paper would benefit from a more detailed exposition of the criteria used to define "well carried out," perhaps through specific performance indicators or qualitative benchmarks. Additionally, while the listed solutions for problematic financing are standard credit recovery techniques, a deeper discussion on how these are specifically adapted or constrained by Sharia principles within the Murabahah context would significantly enhance the paper's contribution. Exploring the unique challenges and innovative Sharia-compliant solutions beyond conventional methods could elevate this descriptive account into a more analytical and prescriptive contribution for the broader Islamic finance industry.
