Reactualization of the serat menak lare in the wangsalan sindhenan srambahan. Explore the creation of Wangsalan Sindhenan Srambahan based on the popular Javanese Menak story. This research provides a new reference for Menak-themed performances.
This study discusses the process of making Wangsalan Sindhenan Srambahan, which is based on the Menak story. Menak's story is one of the most popular stories in Java, and it has been adapted into wayang and dance performances. Of the many performances related to menak stories, the cakepan wangsalan sindhenan has not been found, which is an essential element when accompanying menak performances. Research about Wangsalan menak stories is expected to contribute to menak story performances. This qualitative research uses descriptive analysis methods and the transfer of vehicles method. Data were collected through literature studies and paramasastra processing. The data analysis technique used is the reciprocity of data from document studies with Paramasastra. The results of this study are Wangsalan Srambahan from Menak stories, which can be used as a reference when accompanying Menak-themed performances.
This study presents a focused and culturally significant endeavor, aiming to "reactualize" the *Serat Menak Lare* by developing *Wangsalan Sindhenan Srambahan*. The authors clearly identify a critical gap in Javanese performing arts: despite the enduring popularity and diverse adaptations of the *Menak* story, a dedicated repertoire of *cakepan wangsalan sindhenan*—an acknowledged essential element for accompanying these performances—is conspicuously absent. By seeking to fill this void, the research directly contributes to the preservation and enrichment of Javanese cultural heritage, providing a much-needed resource for practitioners and enthusiasts of *Menak*-themed presentations. The methodology employed is qualitative, utilizing descriptive analysis alongside a "transfer of vehicles method," which is fitting for a study focused on textual creation within a specific artistic tradition. Data collection relies on established methods of literature studies and *paramasastra* processing, ensuring a rigorous approach to understanding and manipulating the linguistic and poetic structures required for *wangsalan*. The data analysis technique, described as the "reciprocity of data from document studies with Paramasastra," suggests a thorough and iterative process to ensure the newly created *wangsalan* are both authentic to the *Menak* narrative and structurally sound within the *sindhenan* form. The primary outcome of this research is the successful generation of *Wangsalan Srambahan* derived from *Menak* stories. This tangible result directly addresses the initial problem statement and fulfills the study's objective. The created *wangsalan* are presented as a valuable reference tool for accompanying *Menak*-themed performances, thereby offering a practical and immediate contribution to the performing arts community. This work not only enhances the artistic repertoire but also reinforces the cultural continuity of *Serat Menak Lare*, ensuring its reactualization in a meaningful and engaging contemporary context.
