Pencemaran air sungai akibat limbah domestik menjadi permasalahan lingkungan yang mendesak di kawasan urban, termasuk Sungai Dam Oongan di Denpasar. Minimnya kesadaran masyarakat dalam mengelola limbah organik mendorong perlunya pendekatan edukatif dan aksi ekologis secara kolaboratif. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterampilan warga dalam memanfaatkan limbah organik melalui pelatihan pembuatan dan penuangan Eco Enzyme sebagai upaya mengurangi pencemaran air. Metode yang digunakan adalah kombinasi pendidikan masyarakat, pelatihan berbasis praktik, dan difusi ipteks, dengan strategi partisipatif melalui kolaborasi antara tim pengabdi, komunitas Eco Enzyme Nusantara, dan warga setempat. Kegiatan meliputi pelatihan pembuatan Eco Enzyme, penyuluhan lingkungan, serta aksi penuangan ke titik strategis sungai. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman warga hingga 90% terhadap konsep dan manfaat Eco Enzyme, serta terbentuknya tiga kelompok mandiri pengolah Eco Enzyme. Aksi penuangan juga memberi dampak visual positif terhadap kondisi air sungai. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi kolaboratif berbasis masyarakat efektif dalam merespons pencemaran air secara berkelanjutan.
This manuscript presents a highly relevant and timely intervention addressing the critical issue of domestic water pollution in urban river systems, specifically the Dam Oongan in Denpasar. The chosen strategy, integrating Eco-Enzyme application with comprehensive environmental education and community empowerment, is commendable for its holistic and practical approach. The emphasis on collaborative engagement, involving academic teams, local communities, and the Eco Enzyme Nusantara network, stands out as a significant strength, showcasing a model for actionable community-based environmental initiatives. The clear objective to enhance awareness and skills in organic waste utilization directly responds to a pressing local environmental challenge. The methodology, combining community education, practice-based training, and IPTEKS diffusion through a participatory approach, appears well-suited to the project's goals. The reported outcomes are encouraging, particularly the significant increase in community understanding (90%) regarding Eco-Enzyme concepts and benefits, and the successful formation of three independent Eco-Enzyme processing groups. These results strongly suggest effective knowledge transfer and genuine community adoption. Furthermore, the observation of a positive visual impact on the river water condition after the enzyme application provides tangible evidence of the intervention's initial success. These findings collectively underscore the effectiveness of the collaborative, community-driven strategy in fostering sustainable responses to water pollution. While the study provides compelling evidence of increased understanding and initial positive impacts, further detail on the quantitative assessment of the "positive visual impact" would strengthen the conclusions regarding water quality improvement. Incorporating parameters such as reduced odor, turbidity, or basic physiochemical indicators (e.g., pH, DO) before and after penuangan would enhance the scientific rigor. Additionally, a discussion on the long-term sustainability plan for these community groups and the scalability of the initiative beyond the project timeframe would enrich the practical implications. Nonetheless, this paper offers a valuable case study demonstrating an effective model for community-led environmental stewardship and education, making a significant contribution to the literature on participatory pollution mitigation strategies.
