Abstract

This community service program aims to optimize gambier production through the application of an Appropriate Technology (TTG) pressing machine, facilitate the design of modern packaging, and strengthen digital marketing strategies and basic financial management for the “Merandal Majuna” business group in Salak II Village, Pakpak Bharat Regency. The method employed was a participatory approach through integrated intervention. The evaluation instruments included observation sheets, interviews, and documentation, which were analyzed using comparative descriptive techniques. The results of this program show a significant increase in productivity, as the Appropriate Technology (TTG) machine was able to process more than 30 kg of gambier leaves per cycle, far exceeding manual methods. In addition, the market reach expanded from the local level to wider markets through the use of digital platforms such as Instagram, Shopee, and Facebook Marketplace. The partners also developed basic skills in systematic financial record-keeping.

Review

This paper, titled "Peningkatan Produktivitas dan Pemasaran Digital UMKM Getah Gambir di Desa Salak II Kabupaten Pakpak Bharat," outlines a highly relevant community service program designed to bolster the operational and market capabilities of the "Merandal Majuna" business group. The program's objectives are clearly defined: to enhance gambier production efficiency through Appropriate Technology (TTG), improve product presentation via modern packaging, and expand market access through digital marketing and fundamental financial management training. This initiative directly addresses crucial areas for the growth and sustainability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in rural settings, making a valuable contribution to local economic empowerment. The methodology adopted, characterized by a participatory approach and integrated intervention, is particularly fitting for a community service project. It combines practical technological implementation, specifically the TTG pressing machine, with vital business development components such as packaging innovation and digital literacy. The program's effectiveness was evaluated using observation sheets, interviews, and documentation, with data analyzed through comparative descriptive techniques. This robust evaluation framework allows for a clear assessment of the immediate impact and provides a solid basis for demonstrating improvements against prior practices. The results presented indicate significant success across all intervention areas. The introduction of the TTG machine led to a substantial increase in productivity, processing over 30 kg of gambier leaves per cycle, a considerable improvement over manual methods. Equally impressive is the expansion of market reach from purely local to wider audiences through strategic utilization of digital platforms like Instagram, Shopee, and Facebook Marketplace. Additionally, partners developed essential skills in systematic financial record-keeping, underscoring a holistic approach to business development. While the abstract strongly conveys positive outcomes, future work might benefit from providing specific quantitative data on market expansion (e.g., sales figures, number of new customers) to further illustrate the economic impact of these interventions. Overall, this paper serves as an excellent model for community development programs focused on enhancing MSME competitiveness.
