The paper presents a timely and relevant investigation into the critical factors influencing financial management behavior among migrant students. Focusing on the interplay between financial literacy, self-control, and financial management practices, the study addresses a demographic often facing unique financial challenges. The clear objective to analyze the influence of financial literacy, with self-control as an intervening variable, is well-articulated. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive approach and PLS-SEM, the research successfully uncovers significant relationships, providing a structured understanding of how these elements connect. A key strength of this research lies in its robust methodological approach and the insightful inclusion of self-control as a mediator. By demonstrating that financial literacy positively and significantly influences both self-control and financial management behavior, and crucially, that self-control itself significantly impacts financial management behavior while also mediating the initial relationship, the study offers a more comprehensive model. The use of SmartPLS 4 for analysis ensures a rigorous examination of these hypothesized relationships. These findings are valuable, affirming the importance of foundational financial knowledge and the psychological capacity for self-regulation in fostering sound financial practices, particularly relevant for young adults transitioning to independent living. While the study provides compelling evidence, there are avenues for further enhancement and exploration. The sample size of 100 migrant students, drawn from a larger population of 2,655, might limit the generalizability of the findings to a broader student body or other migrant student populations. Future research could benefit from a larger and more geographically diverse sample to strengthen external validity. Additionally, while the quantitative data provides strong statistical insights, incorporating qualitative elements (e.g., in-depth interviews) could offer a richer, nuanced understanding of the specific financial challenges and behavioral nuances unique to migrant students, potentially uncovering additional contextual factors influencing their financial management decisions.
