Abstract

Review

This study, titled "Pengaruh Latihan Core Stability Terhadap Penurunan Nyeri dan Peningkatan Fungsi Pada Pasien Low Back Pain Non-Spesifik," addresses a critical health issue, non-specific low back pain (LBP), which is a leading cause of global disability. The authors employed a quasi-experimental, pre-test and post-test design to investigate the impact of core stability exercises on pain reduction and functional improvement in 30 patients. Over a four-week intervention period, with exercises performed three times weekly, the study utilized validated instruments, the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) for function. The findings clearly demonstrated significant reductions in pain scores and notable improvements in daily activity function, both with a p-value less than 0.05. The research presents a valuable contribution to the evidence base for LBP management. Its strengths lie in addressing a highly prevalent clinical problem, utilizing well-established outcome measures, and providing clear, statistically significant results that support the efficacy of core stability training. The intervention duration and frequency appear clinically practical and appropriate. While the quasi-experimental pre-post design effectively demonstrated changes within the study group, the absence of a control group inherently limits the attribution of observed improvements solely to the intervention, as natural recovery or other confounding factors cannot be entirely ruled out. Furthermore, a detailed description of the specific core stability exercises implemented would be beneficial for replication purposes, although this level of detail is often beyond the scope of an abstract. In conclusion, this study provides compelling evidence that core stability exercises are effective in mitigating pain and enhancing functional capacity in individuals suffering from non-specific LBP. The results strongly advocate for the integration of core stability training into standard physiotherapy rehabilitation programs. Future research could build upon these findings by incorporating a randomized controlled trial design, employing larger sample sizes to enhance generalizability, and investigating the long-term sustainability of these benefits. Nevertheless, the current findings offer a clear and actionable recommendation for clinicians managing non-specific LBP patients.
