This study, titled "PENGARUH BEBAN KERJA TERHADAP STRES KERJA KARYAWAN PADA UPDK PLTD GUNUNG MALANG BALIKPAPAN," investigates a highly relevant and critical issue in organizational psychology and human resource management: the impact of workload on employee work stress. The abstract clearly articulates the research's objective, which is to ascertain this relationship within the specific context of employees at UPDK PLTD Gunung Malang Balikpapan. Addressing employee stress, particularly in an industrial setting, is crucial for organizational well-being and productivity, making the study's premise both timely and important for practitioners and researchers alike. The methodology adopted is an associative quantitative approach, utilizing a saturation sampling technique that included all 48 employees as respondents. Primary data was gathered through questionnaires employing a Likert scale, and subsequent analysis was performed using simple linear regression, t-tests, and the coefficient of determination, aided by SPSS version 23. The findings are straightforward: a positive and significant effect of workload on employee work stress was observed, encapsulated by the regression equation Y= -12,370 + 1,260X. The study further quantifies this influence, reporting that workload accounts for 31.5% of the variance in employee work stress, indicating a substantial, though not sole, explanatory power. While the study provides clear and actionable insights for the specific organization, certain aspects merit further consideration. The relatively small sample size of 48 respondents from a single company inherently limits the generalizability of these findings to other organizations or industries. Additionally, while workload significantly explains 31.5% of work stress, the remaining 68.5% implies that other, unexamined factors play a considerable role. Future research could enhance this understanding by incorporating a broader range of variables (e.g., job control, organizational culture, social support, individual coping mechanisms), employing larger and more diverse samples, or integrating qualitative methods to explore the nuances of employee stress experiences. Nevertheless, for UPDK PLTD Gunung Malang Balikpapan, these findings offer direct evidence supporting the need for proactive workload management strategies to mitigate employee stress.
