Review

This paper, titled "Penerapan Terapi Autogenik Pada Pasien Skizofrenia Dengan Masalah Keperawatan Ansietas Di Puskesmas Kotabumi I Lampung Utara," explores the application of autogenic therapy in managing anxiety experienced by a patient with schizophrenia in a primary healthcare setting. The chosen topic is highly relevant, as anxiety is a pervasive issue that can significantly impede the recovery process for individuals with severe mental illnesses. The study's aim to describe the impact of autogenic therapy on anxiety symptoms is clear, and the reported 42% reduction in signs and symptoms offers a preliminary, albeit encouraging, indication of the therapy's potential effectiveness in nursing practice. However, a significant limitation of this research lies in its methodological approach. The study's design as a single case study, focusing on just one patient, severely restricts the generalizability of its findings. While offering in-depth insights into one individual's experience, it does not provide sufficient evidence to support broad clinical recommendations. Furthermore, the abstract lacks crucial details regarding the measurement of the "42% reduction"; the absence of a standardized or validated anxiety assessment tool makes it difficult to objectively evaluate the reliability and precision of this outcome. For future studies, incorporating a larger sample size, employing a control group, and utilizing psychometrically sound instruments for anxiety measurement would be essential to strengthen the evidence base. Despite these methodological constraints, this paper serves as a valuable exploratory study, generating a hypothesis that autogenic therapy may be beneficial for managing anxiety in patients with schizophrenia within a primary care context. The current recommendation for nurses to implement autogenic therapy, while well-intentioned, is premature given the limited evidence. Future research should prioritize more robust designs, including randomized controlled trials, to validate these preliminary findings, standardize the intervention protocol, and assess its long-term efficacy and cost-effectiveness in real-world settings. Overall, this paper provides an initial, intriguing glimpse into a promising non-pharmacological intervention, highlighting an important area for further, rigorous investigation.
