Abstract

Review

The title "Pemodelan Kualitas Air Tanah" (Groundwater Quality Modeling) signals a highly relevant and critical area of environmental science and hydrogeology. The abstract outlines an ambitious project aimed at developing a robust model to address multifaceted challenges associated with groundwater contamination. The stated objectives—identifying contamination sources, understanding their spatial propagation, forecasting future impacts, and informing remediation strategies—are fundamentally important for effective water resource management and public health protection. This work, therefore, holds significant potential to contribute to a deeper understanding and proactive management of this vital resource. The proposed methodology for model development is commendably structured and systematic. The abstract clearly articulates a four-stage process: beginning with a conceptual model, transitioning to its mathematical expression, determining analytical or numerical solutions, and culminating in crucial model verification with empirical data. This step-by-step approach provides a solid foundation for rigorous scientific inquiry. Furthermore, the emphasis on developing a model that can represent both contaminant transport characteristics and their intricate chemical interactions is particularly strong, acknowledging the complex nature of pollutant behavior within hydrogeological systems. While the abstract effectively conveys the scope and systematic approach, the full manuscript would benefit greatly from further elaboration on several key aspects. For instance, specifying the *types* of contaminants the model intends to address (e.g., organic, inorganic, specific ions) would help define its immediate applicability. Additionally, insights into the anticipated *mathematical or numerical techniques* to be employed, along with the *nature of the data* planned for model verification (e.g., field-measured time series, lab-scale experiments, specific geological settings), would significantly enhance the reader's understanding of the model's robustness and transferability. Addressing these details in the main body of the paper will strengthen the work's overall impact and provide clearer insights into its practical implications and limitations.
