Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan performansi dan nilai budaya tradisi lisan malamang masyarakat Minangkabau di Korong Surau Kandang, Nagari Tapakis, Ulakan Tapakis, Pariaman. Menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan model etnografi dan pendekatan antropolinguistik, data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi, wawancara, dan observasi. Tradisi ini memiliki enam tahapan, namun kajian difokuskan pada maundang kerabat dan malam badikia yang kaya performansi verbal dan nonverbal. Analisis linguistik mencakup aspek fonologi, gramatikal, dan leksikosemantik, sementara strukturnya terdiri dari pembuka, isi, dan penutup, dilengkapi unsur paralinguistik serta simbol material seperti lamang. Tradisi ini melibatkan tokoh adat dan agama serta memuat nilai gotong royong, kebersamaan, religiusitas, sopan santun, dan penghormatan adat.
This paper presents a detailed qualitative descriptive study aimed at elucidating the performance and cultural values inherent in the *malamang* oral tradition of the Minangkabau community in Korong Surau Kandang, Pariaman. Employing a robust ethnographic model with an anthropolinguistic approach, the research design is highly suitable for exploring the complexities of an oral tradition. The methodology, based on documentation, interviews, and observation, promises a comprehensive data collection process, setting a strong foundation for the analysis of both verbal and non-verbal performances within this specific cultural context. A significant strength of the study lies in its focused yet multi-layered analytical framework. By meticulously dissecting the performance dynamics and the underlying cultural values of *malamang*, the paper offers crucial insights into how oral traditions serve as repositories of community identity, social structure, and spiritual beliefs.
