Introduction

O grande desafio urbano. Este estudo revela como desigualdades raciais estruturam o espaço urbano do Recife, dificultando a cidadania. Analisa políticas públicas para uma cidade mais justa e efetiva.

Abstract

Objetivo: Demonstrar como desigualdades raciais estruturam o espaço urbano e dificultam a promoção da cidadania por meio das políticas públicas na cidade do Recife. Método/abordagem: Foram analisados os 94 bairros da cidade do Recife segundo a predominância racial de seus habitantes. Utilizou-se a técnica de Análise de Agrupamentos, especialmente o método K-means, para agrupar os bairros com base em semelhanças socioespaciais, identificando centróides representativos. Contribuições teóricas/práticas/sociais: A pesquisa revela um cenário urbano marcado pela urbanização corporativa, onde os interesses empresariais prevalecem sobre os direitos coletivos, comprometendo a efetividade de políticas públicas sociais. A análise oferece subsídios para a construção de estratégias mais eficazes e justas, voltadas à superação das desigualdades raciais e à promoção de uma cidadania efetiva para a população negra recifense. Originalidade/relevância: O estudo evidencia a importância do conhecimento das dimensões materiais e simbólicas do território na formulação de políticas públicas alinhadas à realidade concreta das desigualdades urbanas no Recife.
