Several types of animals found in the Sekupang Deer Park include deer, kate chickens, pigeons, koi fish, goldfish, tilapia and catfish. At Sekupang Deer Park, visitors can also learn plant cultivation techniques using a hydroponic system, how to make compost fertilizer, as well as a system for recycling water and electricity from solar power. With the various facilities available, Sekupang Deer Park is one of the choices of places to visit for the people of Batam City and tourists visiting Batam City. A natural tourist park is a natural conservation area which can also be used as a tourism location or recreation facility. Ecotourism is a tourism activity that is environmentally friendly by prioritizing aspects of nature conservation, aspects of socio-cultural economic empowerment of local communities as well as aspects of learning and education. This research aims to analyze the influence of developing a tourist park with the concepts of education, recreation and conservation on the interest in visiting the people of Batam City. The research method uses a quantitative approach with survey techniques using questionnaires distributed to respondents who are residents of Batam City. The collected data was analyzed using a simple linear regression method to determine the extent to which tourist park development variables influence the interest in visiting the people of Batam City. The results of the research show that the development of a tourist park with the concepts of education, recreation and conservation has a significant positive influence on the interest in visiting the people of Batam City. The existence of educational facilities, recreational activities and nature conservation efforts in tourist parks can increase public interest in visiting and participating in these activities.
This study critically examines the impact of integrating education, recreation, and conservation concepts into the development of Sekupang Deer Park on the visiting interest of Batam City residents. The paper effectively introduces Sekupang Deer Park as a multi-faceted "Smart and Green Garden" featuring a diverse array of facilities, from animal exhibits and recreational areas to educational programs in hydroponics and sustainable practices. The core finding—that these integrated concepts significantly and positively influence public interest in visiting—provides valuable insight into the demand for comprehensive natural parks that blend entertainment with learning and environmental stewardship, suggesting a successful model for urban tourism development. While the research employs a quantitative approach with survey questionnaires and simple linear regression to establish a clear statistical link, the abstract offers limited details regarding the methodological execution. Further elaboration on aspects such as the sample size, sampling strategy, and the specific operationalization of the "education, recreation, and conservation" variables within the questionnaire would enhance the transparency and scientific rigor of the study. Additionally, relying solely on simple linear regression might oversimplify the nuanced interactions between these elements and visiting interest; exploring multivariate analyses could potentially uncover deeper, more complex relationships. The findings carry significant practical implications for tourism development and urban planning, highlighting the strategic advantage of designing natural parks that cater to diverse visitor needs by simultaneously offering educational opportunities, recreational activities, and promoting conservation awareness. For Batam City, this research offers a clear directive for enhancing existing attractions and informing future developments towards sustainable and engaging tourism. Future research could build upon this foundation by delving into the qualitative aspects of visitor motivation, exploring the long-term behavioral changes induced by such parks, or comparing the efficacy of this development strategy across different cultural and geographical contexts.
