Abstract

AbstractThis study explores the integration of diakonia and pastoral care/counseling in the interpretation of Luke 10:25–37. The research employs Reader-Response Criticism (RRC) as its methodological framework, involving twenty-five students from Sekolah Tinggi Diakones HKBP Balige as participants. The aim of the study is to demonstrate that diakonia and pastoral counseling constitute two interrelated dimensions of practical theology. The findings reveal that the relationship between diakonia and pastoral care/counseling is exemplified in the Samaritan’s compassionate response expressed through concrete actions toward those in need. More specifically, the study underscores that both diakonia and pastoral care/counseling are realized through tangible acts of service rather than mere verbal expressions. An additional finding highlights the processual nature of care, in which the one being helped (the counselee) gradually attains independence and empowerment. Ultimately, such integration fosters a pastoral praxis that moves individuals from dependence to self-reliance, embodying the transformative essence of diakonia and pastoral care within the Christian community. AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetengahkan integrasi diakonia dengan pendampingan/konseling pastoral dalam membaca Lukas 10:25-37. Metode yang dipergunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Reader Respons Critism (RRC) dengan melibatkan dua puluh lima orang mahasiswa Sekolah Tinggi Diakones HKBP. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan bahwa diakonia dan konseling pastoral adalah dua bidang ilmu teologi praktika yang integral. Adapun hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa keterkaitan antara diakonia dengan pendampingan/konseling pastoral dilihat ketika orang Samaria menolong dengan beralaskan belas kasih dan melalui tindakan nyata terhadap orang yang membutuhkan. Lebih jelasnya hendak ditekankan bahwa diakonia dan pendampingan/konseling pastoral diwujudnyatakan dengan bertindak secara langsung bukan hanya lewat kata-kata. Hal menarik lainnya yang memperlihatkan keterkaitan diakonia dan pendampingan/konseling pastoralyaitu adanya tahapan dalam tindakan pemedulian yang dilakukan. Dalam arti, konseli atau orang yang ditolong akan sampai kepada tahap memandirikan dan memberdayakan. Dengan demikian, tidak akan bergantung kepada konselor atau pelaku diakonia.
