Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas peran media sosial dalam mendorong partisipasi politik Generasi Z menuju Pilkada Jakarta 2024. Menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif berbasis analisis literatur, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi bagaimana media sosial menjadi alat strategis bagi Generasi Z untuk meningkatkan kesadaran politik dan keterlibatan dalam demokrasi lokal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media sosial, seperti Instagram, TikTok, dan Twitter, tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai sumber informasi politik utama bagi Generasi Z tetapi juga sebagai ruang interaktif untuk diskusi, kampanye, dan mobilisasi. Generasi Z, sebagai generasi digital, menunjukkan ketertarikan terhadap konten interaktif yang relevan dengan tren terkini, termasuk konten yang disampaikan oleh influencer. Strategi kampanye yang efektif di media sosial dapat memengaruhi persepsi dan keputusan politik mereka, meskipun tantangan seperti hoaks dan kampanye hitam tetap ada. Studi ini menyoroti pentingnya pendekatan yang adaptif dan kreatif dalam memanfaatkan media sosial untuk meningkatkan partisipasi politik yang bermakna di kalangan Generasi Z.

The study's strength lies in its timely focus, clear identification of specific social media platforms, and recognition of content preferences and challenges in the context of Gen Z political participation. The emphasis on adaptive and creative approaches to leverage social media for meaningful engagement is particularly valuable. While the descriptive qualitative approach based on literature analysis provides a foundational understanding, future research could significantly benefit from incorporating primary data collection, such as surveys, interviews, or focus group discussions with Gen Z individuals. This would offer deeper empirical insights into the nuances of their "meaningful participation" and the practical impact of social media campaigns, moving beyond identification to a more granular analysis of influence and behavioral outcomes. Exploring how "meaningful" participation is defined and measured within the context of the study would also enhance its theoretical contribution.
