Abstract

Penelitian ini telah berhasil mengkaji efektivitas model pembelajaran Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) Approach berbantu media ular tangga pada aspek pemahaman operasi hitung siswa kelas III SDN 1 Selokaton. Tujuan utama penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa efektif model pendekatan pembelajaran matematika Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) Approach dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang operasi hitung. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain pre-experimental menggunakan rancangan satu kelompok pretest- posttest. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini melibatkan 25 siswa kelas III dari SDN 1 Selokaton, Kendal. Teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu Sampling non-probability dengan metode sampling jenuh. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai pretest siswa rata-rata 60,4 dan nilai posttest rata-rata 80,6. Penelitian ini diperkuat oleh Hasil uji t, yang menghasilkan nilai thitung sebesar 11,494. Hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima, karena nilai ttabel yang diperoleh, dengan taraf signifikansi 5%, adalah 1,711. Ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai pretest dan posttest sangat berbeda. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pembelajaran matematika Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) Approach berbantu media ular tangga efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa kelas III di SDN 1 Selokaton, Kendal tentang konsep operasi hitung.

This study meticulously investigates the effectiveness of the Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach, integrated with a Snakes and Ladders game medium, on the conceptual understanding of arithmetic operations among third-grade students at SDN 1 Selokaton Kendal. The research addresses a pertinent educational challenge: enhancing foundational mathematical understanding in primary school. By clearly stating its objective to ascertain the efficacy of this combined pedagogical strategy, the paper sets a focused scope, promising valuable insights into practical teaching methods for elementary mathematics. The methodology employed is a quantitative pre-experimental design, specifically a one-group pretest-posttest approach, which is appropriate for an initial assessment of an intervention's impact. A sample of 25 third-grade students was selected using non-probability saturated sampling, ensuring all students in the class were included. The findings reveal a marked improvement in student performance, with the average pretest score of 60.4 significantly increasing to a posttest average of 80.6. This positive shift is statistically corroborated by a robust t-test result, where the calculated t-value of 11.494 substantially exceeded the critical t-table value of 1.711 at a 5% significance level, leading to the definitive rejection of the null hypothesis. In conclusion, the research strongly supports the effectiveness of the RME approach, when assisted by the Snakes and Ladders game, in enhancing students' understanding of arithmetic operations. The clear quantitative data and statistical analysis provide compelling evidence for the positive impact of this teaching method. While the pre-experimental design limits the generalizability compared to studies with control groups, the significant gains observed within this specific context offer a promising avenue for educators. This study provides a valuable contribution to the literature on primary mathematics education, suggesting a practical and engaging pedagogical tool that warrants further exploration in broader settings.
