Jurnal ilmiah pekerjaan sosial. Penelitian pekerjaan sosial ini mengkaji pengasuhan anak oleh wanita rentan di Pedurungan, Semarang. Mengungkap masalah & usulkan program Sinar Cerah untuk edukasi parenting & konseling.
This research was conducted in Pedurungan District against the background of the phenomenon of inappropriate child care. This research aims to examine and describe childcare by socio-economically vulnerable women in Pedurungan District, Semarang City, which is studied through the aspects of parental responsiveness and parental demandingness. The method used in this research is a case study with a qualitative approach. The primary data source for this research is data obtained by researchers through interviews and observations, while the secondary data source for this research was obtained through documentation studies and other documents relevant to the research topic. The informants for this research are socio-economically vulnerable women in Pedurungan District who have 7 dependent children and 7 people in the PRSE neighborhood. Checking the validity of the data in this research uses credibility, transferability, dependability and confirmability. The research results show that there are still problems in fulfilling the emotional needs between a caregiver (PRSE) and a child which is caused by PRSE's lack of knowledge about parenting and PRSE's lack of skills in managing emotions. The results of this research indicate that there is a need for education and counseling regarding parenting and developing PRSE emotion management skills. Based on the results of this research, the researchers designed a program, namely a program called Sinar Cerah using the Social Group Work method.
The abstract presents a compelling case study addressing the critical issue of child care practices among socio-economically vulnerable women in Pedurungan District, Semarang City. Focusing on the dimensions of parental responsiveness and demandingness, the research investigates instances of inappropriate child care, a phenomenon with significant implications for child well-being and social work intervention. This topic is highly relevant to the journal's scope, "Jurnal Ilmiah Pekerjaan Sosial," as it directly confronts challenges faced by vulnerable populations and offers insights crucial for designing targeted social support programs. The study's objective to examine and describe these complex dynamics is a valuable contribution to understanding the nuanced realities of parenting in challenging socio-economic contexts. Methodologically, the study employs a qualitative case study approach, utilizing interviews, observations, and documentation studies to gather rich primary and secondary data. The inclusion of robust validity checks (credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability) demonstrates a commitment to methodological rigor, which is commendable for a qualitative inquiry. However, the description of informants, "socio-economically vulnerable women in Pedurungan District who have 7 dependent children and 7 people in the PRSE neighborhood," is somewhat ambiguous. Clarification on whether "PRSE" is an acronym for the target group or a specific neighborhood entity, and a more precise explanation of the total number of primary informants, would enhance transparency. Despite this, the qualitative focus on the lived experiences of caregivers is appropriate for exploring the identified issues. The key findings reveal significant problems in fulfilling children's emotional needs, attributed to caregivers' lack of parenting knowledge and emotion management skills, providing clear actionable insights. The research effectively translates its findings into practical implications, highlighting an urgent need for education and counseling interventions focused on parenting skills and emotion management for the target group. The proposed "Sinar Cerah" program, designed using the Social Group Work method, is a commendable and concrete outcome, demonstrating a clear pathway from research to practice. This proactive approach underscores the study's relevance and potential for real-world impact within social work. While the abstract provides a strong overview, defining "PRSE" and clarifying informant numbers would strengthen future presentations of this work. Overall, this study offers valuable insights into the complexities of child care among vulnerable women, providing a solid foundation for evidence-based social work interventions and contributing meaningfully to the discourse on child welfare and family support.
