Kevés olyan ember élt a modern magyar orvoslás történetében, akiannyira elszántan, következetesen és eredményesen dolgozott volna az anyanyelvi kultúra szolgálatában, mint ő. Életművének jelentős része a szó, a magyar orvosi szaknyelv tisztasága, művelése és intézményes fejlesztése köré szerveződött.
