Bringinsari Village, Sukorejo District, Kendal Regency has enormous agricultural potential considering that most of the village's population works as farmers. Various types of plants are planted on agricultural land, including red guava, Robusta coffee, cloves, and secondary crops. Crystal guava (Psidium guajava) is one of the commodities that has been tried to be cultivated in Bringinsari Village. However, crystal guava cultivators failed when new flowers appeared that easily fell off. For this reason, the PPK Ormawa Hima Sejarah Implementation Team tried to intervene by implementing crystal guava planting techniques. The community empowerment methods used were farmer group audiences, training, making holes, and planting crystal guava. Through this series of interventions, it is hoped that farmers in Bringinsari Village can have knowledge and skills in cultivating crystal guava.
This paper outlines an commendable initiative to address a significant agricultural challenge in Bringinsari Village, Kendal Regency. Recognizing the village's agricultural potential and the population's reliance on farming, the study focuses on overcoming past failures in crystal guava cultivation, specifically the problematic issue of premature flower drop. The intervention, spearheaded by the PPK Ormawa Hima Sejarah Implementation Team, aims to introduce innovative planting techniques through community empowerment methods, with the ultimate goal of enhancing farmers' knowledge and skills in cultivating this commodity. A key strength of this work lies in its direct response to a practical, locally identified problem that hinders agricultural productivity and farmer livelihoods. The commitment to a community-based approach, involving farmer group audiences, training, and hands-on implementation, is highly appropriate for rural development initiatives, fostering local participation and ownership. By specifically targeting crystal guava and its known cultivation difficulties, the project demonstrates a focused and relevant effort to improve a particular agricultural value chain within the village. The intent to empower farmers with specific knowledge and skills is a valuable contribution towards sustainable agricultural practices and local economic resilience. While the abstract highlights a promising intervention, a comprehensive review of the full paper would require significantly more detail, particularly regarding the specifics of the "innovative planting techniques" themselves. The abstract is vague on *what* these techniques entail, which is crucial for understanding the proposed solution's novelty and effectiveness. Furthermore, the abstract's stated hope for improved knowledge and skills necessitates a robust methodology for measuring actual outcomes. The full paper should detail how knowledge transfer was assessed and, more importantly, present empirical data on the tangible impacts, such as reduced flower drop, increased yield, improved fruit quality, or economic benefits for the farmers. Without such specifics on both the intervention's content and its measured results, the true success and replicability of this commendable community empowerment project remain largely unaddressed.
