This study addresses a highly relevant public health issue: the relationship between Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) and the incidence of diarrhea among schoolchildren. Diarrhea remains a significant cause of morbidity, particularly in pediatric populations, making investigations into preventable factors like PHBS crucial. The authors aim to elucidate this relationship within SDN Total Persada, identifying specific PHBS indicators such as clean water access, handwashing practices, healthy latrine use, and waste management. The reported finding of a significant association (p=0.000) between PHBS and diarrhea incidence strongly underscores the importance of behavioral interventions in school settings. Methodologically, the study employed probability sampling via simple random sampling with a commendable sample size of 109 respondents, enhancing the generalizability of its findings within the studied population. The use of chi-square analysis is appropriate for examining the association between categorical variables. A key strength lies in the explicit mention of multiple PHBS indicators, offering a more nuanced understanding than a single, composite measure might. However, the abstract's presentation of results, while stating a significant relationship for "gambaran PHBS," also highlights specific observations about poor handwashing and consumption of unhygienic street food among students with diarrhea. It would be beneficial for the full paper to clarify whether the p-value of 0.000 refers to an aggregated PHBS score or if individual components were also analyzed for their specific associations. The findings robustly support the need for targeted health promotion and education programs within schools, especially emphasizing proper handwashing techniques and safe food consumption habits, as these are implicitly identified as critical risk factors. The recommendation for school authorities to implement PHBS education is a direct and practical implication of this research. While the study effectively demonstrates a correlation, a cross-sectional design inherently limits the inference of causation. Future research could consider longitudinal designs or interventional studies to establish causal links and evaluate the effectiveness of specific PHBS interventions over time, further strengthening the evidence base for school-based health initiatives.
