This document, titled "How To Submit," serves as an essential guide and mission statement for the PMUSER Journal, primarily targeting undergraduate researchers. It effectively communicates the journal's core philosophy: celebrating and nurturing the "innately perfect" stories of undergraduate research while encouraging their refinement. The abstract establishes a welcoming and supportive tone, highlighting the importance of sharing knowledge and acknowledging the self-development inherent in the research process. It clearly positions PMUSER Journal as a platform dedicated to fostering growth and disseminating early-career academic work. The abstract provides practical and actionable submission guidelines. Authors are instructed to submit manuscripts as plain Word documents, devoid of personal information, with in-file citations in APA format. A distinctive requirement is the inclusion of citations in a .tex or .bib file, which, while beneficial for ease of publication, might warrant further explanation for authors unfamiliar with these formats when submitting a Word document. The commitment to academic integrity is underscored by the mandate for original work—no adapted figures—and the implementation of a double-blind peer-review process, ensuring fairness and impartiality in evaluation. Beyond submission mechanics, the abstract powerfully articulates the journal's student-led ethos and the rich opportunities for involvement. It invites students to volunteer in various capacities, from participating in layout and peer-review workshops to joining Editorial and Executive Teams. A significant incentive for students at the University of Manitoba is the offering of Co-Curricular Record (CCR) credits for their engagement, with enhanced credits available for peer-reviewers and leadership roles. This emphasis on student leadership and development, alongside its core publishing mission, establishes PMUSER Journal as a valuable experiential learning platform within the academic community.
