Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikasikan gaya bahasa metafora dan hiperbola dalam novel Hello karya Tere Liye. Artikel ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis, berfokus pada ungkapan-ungkapan metafora dan hiperbola yang terdapat dalam teks novel. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data simak dan catat. Data gaya bahasa metafora dianalisis menggunakan teori parera yang terdiri dari empat jenis yaitu metafora antropomorfik, metafora hewan, metafora abstrak ke konkret, dan metafora sinestesia. Sedangkan gaya bahasa hiperbola dianalisis menggunakan teori Claridge yang terdiri dari tujuh macam yaitu hiperbola kata, hiperbola frasa, hiperbola klausa, hiperbola numerik, hiperbola peranan superlative, hiperbola perbandingan, dan hiperbola repitisi. Teknik analisis data penelitian ini terdapat tiga tahap yaitu pengumpulan data, penyajian data, dan pemeriksaan kesimpulan. Hasil Penelitian ini terdapat jenis gaya bahasa metafora yang dominan dalam novel Hello karya Tere Liye yaitu gaya bahasa metafora abstrak ke konkret dan jenis gaya bahasa metafora yang minimum yaitu metafora hewan. Sedangkan jenis gaya bahasa hiperbola yang dominan dalam novel Hello karya Tere Liye yaitu hiperbola perbandingan dan gaya bahasa hipebola yang minimum yaitu hiperbola numerik. Secara keseluruhan, gaya bahasa metafora dan hiperbola dalam novel Hello karya Tere Liye berhasil memperkuat karakter tokoh, membentuk emosi, dan menyampaikan nilai-nilai kehidupan.

The findings are meticulously presented, identifying the dominant and minimum types for both metaphor (abstract to concrete dominant, animal minimum) and hyperbole (comparison dominant, numerical minimum). These specific insights offer valuable empirical data, enriching our understanding of Tere Liye's particular stylistic predilections within this novel. Beyond mere identification and classification, the research effectively articulates the broader impact of these stylistic choices, concluding that the pervasive use of metaphor and hyperbole significantly enhances character development, shapes emotional resonance, and successfully conveys core life values within *Hello*. This interpretive dimension elevates the study from a purely descriptive exercise to one that illuminates the functional and thematic importance of these literary devices. Overall, this article provides a commendable and thorough analysis, making a solid contribution to the field of literary stylistics and offering valuable insights into the linguistic artistry of one of Indonesia's popular novelists.
