Keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi merupakan salah satu kemampuan penting yang perlu dikuasai oleh peserta didik dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Namun, berbagai studi menunjukan bahwa minat dan motivasi siswa dalam menulis sering kali rendah karena pendekatan pembelajaran yang bersifat monoton. Gamifikasi, sebagai penerapan elemen permainan dalam konteks non-permainan, hadir sebagai pendekatan inovatif yang berpotensi meningkatkan keterlibatan dan motivasi siswa. Artikel ini menyajikan sebuah tinjauan teoritis mengenai potensi penerapan gamifikasi dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia, khususnya dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks deskripsi. Pembahasan difokuskan pada prinsip-prinsip dasar gamifikasi, elemen-elemen yang dapat diadaptasi dalam kegiatan menulis, serta relevansinya dengan teori pembelajaran konstruktivis. Tinjauan ini juga mengidentifikasi berbagai temuan dari penelitian terdahulu yang mendukung efektifitas gamifikasi dalam konteks pendidikan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi elemen seperti poin, lencana, papan peringkat, dan tantangan dalam aktivitas menulis mampu menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang lebih interaktif dan menyenangkan. Dengan demikian, artikel ini memberikan dasar teoretis bagi pengembangan strategi pembelajaran menulis yang inovatif dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan pembelajar abad ke-21.
