Abstract

Abstract: The development of digital technology has brought about major changes in human life, especially for adolescents who are searching for their identity. Easy access to information and unlimited interaction provide positive opportunities, but also trigger moral decadence such as bullying, pornography, promiscuity, drugs, and even crime. This condition signals a crisis of character and a weakening of moral values, which should be the foundation for adolescent development. This study aims to formulate family theology as a preventive model in dealing with moral decadence among adolescents in the digital age. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature study. Based on the theological foundation of the family as a divine institution, it is necessary to analyze the increasingly worrying phenomenon of moral decadence among adolescents in the digital age. To address this, an interdisciplinary approach to character education is needed so that youth development is not only spiritual but also in tune with the dynamics of modern life. All of this leads to the application of a practical model of family theology as a preventive strategy, in which the family functions as a center for moral and spiritual formation that is alive and able to guide adolescents in facing the challenges of the digital age. The results of the study show that, from a theological perspective, the family is a divine institution that functions as a center for faith, moral, and spiritual education. The formulation of family theology is realized through healthy parent-child communication, exemplary living, wise management of digital media, and shared spiritual practices. The integration of theology, psychology, sociology, and technology produces a comprehensive and relevant moral guidance strategy.

Review

This paper addresses a highly pertinent and pressing issue: the moral decadence among adolescents in the digital age. The abstract clearly articulates the dual nature of digital technology, offering both opportunities and significant challenges, including bullying, pornography, and crime, which contribute to a character crisis. The stated aim of the research—to formulate family theology as a preventive model for these issues—is ambitious and directly tackles a critical societal concern. By positing the family as a fundamental institution for moral and spiritual formation, the study sets a strong theological foundation for its proposed intervention, promising insights into how familial structures can mitigate contemporary digital risks for youth. The methodology, described as descriptive qualitative with a literature study, appears appropriate for an initial conceptual formulation of "family theology." The abstract emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, integrating theology with psychology, sociology, and technology. This is a crucial strength, as it acknowledges the multifaceted nature of adolescent development and the complexities of the digital environment, ensuring that the proposed character education is not only spiritually grounded but also attuned to modern life dynamics. The analysis of moral decadence alongside the theological premise of the family as a divine institution provides a coherent framework for understanding the problem and developing a preventive strategy centered on the family's active role. The study's findings, as presented in the abstract, outline a practical realization of family theology. It identifies key mechanisms through which this theology can be applied: healthy parent-child communication, exemplary living, wise digital media management, and shared spiritual practices. These specific strategies offer tangible avenues for families to foster moral and spiritual resilience in adolescents. The integration of various disciplines leading to a "comprehensive and relevant moral guidance strategy" suggests that the research goes beyond mere theoretical exposition to propose actionable frameworks. Overall, the paper appears to offer a valuable contribution to the discourse on character education and family resilience in the digital era, providing a theological lens enriched by interdisciplinary insights.
