This paper presents an illuminating interview with Glória Diógenes, a distinguished professor, anthropologist, and writer, whose scholarly journey is deeply entwined with the experiences of young people in both physical urban landscapes and digital spheres. Titled "Encounters with Young People on the Streets and on the Networks: Research in Movement with Glória Diógenes," the piece positions itself as an act of profound listening and sharing, offering insights into Diógenes's unique approach to investigating the "city in movement." Her research focuses specifically on the multifaceted lives of youth who navigate and shape urban environments, from streets and dance halls to social media platforms, exploring their collective actions in gangs, crews, and as street artists. The interview effectively prioritizes the intricate relationships and methodologies Glória Diógenes employs, emphasizing her co-construction of knowledge with diverse interlocutors, including young people themselves, as well as fellow researchers. A core tenet of her work, as revealed in this dialogue, is the commitment to allowing theories to "bend to experiences," fostering a grounded and responsive analytical framework. Diógenes's subjects are portrayed as active agents who "territorialize urban spaces with desires, inventions, and resistances," underscoring her focus on youth agency and dynamic spatial production. The discussion traverses the rich landscapes of human and social sciences, affect, and literature, demonstrating an inherently interdisciplinary and emotionally engaged research practice that actively challenges static viewpoints. Ultimately, this interview serves as a significant contribution by offering a valuable glimpse into an inspiring model of engaged scholarship. By revealing Diógenes's pathways and encounters, deeply committed to listening and sharing, the paper advocates for a "thinking in movement" that transcends rigid academic boundaries and conventional perspectives. It is poised to inspire researchers dedicated to understanding youth in their complex, multi-territorial existences and creative expressions, providing a powerful testament to the necessity of dynamic, empathetic, and interdisciplinary approaches in contemporary youth studies. The work powerfully underscores how research can be a continuous journey of discovery, deeply embedded in the lived realities it seeks to comprehend.
