Abstract

Las “Jornadas Culturales del Valle Calchaquí” (1981-1999) fueron organizadas por el Centro de Estudios Regionales (CER) y la Peña Cultural “El Cardón” durante un período de casi veinte años. En estos encuentros se buscó un conocimiento especializado e interdisciplinario que pudiera ser útil al desarrollo integral del Valle. La cuarta edición llevó por título “El agua y la vida” (1984) y recibió una serie de colaboraciones de orientación científica y técnica; otras que rondaron el campo de las humanidades y de las ciencias sociales. La singularidad del evento nos conduce a preguntarnos por las nociones de región, cultura y desarrollo, y cómo el CER ensayó su articulación a través de las Jornadas. Pensamos este tema a partir de una breve crónica del evento y del análisis de algunos documentos del Centro. Indagamos además la tradición política e intelectual que sus miembros dicen continuar, y revisamos los trabajos de quien fue su presidente hasta 1984, el filósofo Gaspar Risco Fernández.
